EPC's
An EPC (energy performance certificate), is an official report detailing how energy efficient your home is, including details of its construction, how it's glazed, insulated and heated plus an insight into the annual running costs. The report also explains what measures can be taken to improve the rating and lower running costs.

Selling a property?
It is a legal requirement to have a valid EPC if you're selling and your estate agent will usually put you in contact with an accredited energy assessor like myself.

Letting a property?
If you have a property which you let or that will be let, not only must you have a valid EPC, but it must rate E39 or above.
After assessment, if the rating doesn't meet this requirement then advice will be given on what measures must be taken to bring the rating up. These recommendations will take into account the cost of undertaking such works.

RHI (renewable heat incentives)
If you are planning to take advantage of an RHI such as the installation of photovoltaic panels or a heat pump then an EPC will need to be made available before and after installation.
